Exide Battery Solutions
Exide Technologies is a global battery manufacturer providing energy storage solutions for industrial and commercial applications. The company was founded in 1888 by W.W. Gibbs as The Electric Storage Battery Company. Gibbs purchased the patents of French inventor Clement Payen, who advanced electrical storage, and turned those ideas into commercial products.
Exide’s standby range includes the Sonnenschein A400, a valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) battery that uses dryfit gel technology, where the electrolyte is fixed in a gel. The A400 covers nominal capacities from 5.5 to 180Ah (C10), is maintenance-free (no topping up), is proof against deep discharge, and has a design life of 15 years for blocks of 20Ah and above. It is manufactured in Europe in ISO 9001 certified production facilities and carries UL, DNV GL and DIN-GOST TÜV approvals.
For higher capacity requirements, the Sonnenschein A600 covers nominal capacities from 100 to 3286Ah (C10), with a design life of 15 years for 6V and 12V blocks and 20 years for 2V cells. It features very low gassing due to internal gas recombination and carries UL, DNV GL and DIN-GOST TÜV approvals.
At EnergyHub, we distribute Exide standby batteries designed to support systems that require dependable back-up power. EnergyHub is an industrial battery supplier with branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang and Singapore, and we supply Exide batteries to customers in Malaysia and Singapore.
Our Exide solutions are suitable for standby power applications. EnergyHub supplies batteries for both motive and standby power, so businesses that run material handling equipment and back-up power systems can source both from one supplier.
We offer Exide because we want our customers to have standby batteries from a manufacturer founded in 1888, with VRLA ranges rated for design lives of up to 20 years. Alongside our batteries, EnergyHub also provides battery water and battery services, backed by our four branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang and Singapore.
Why Exide?
Exide Technologies provides gel, AGM and flooded lead acid batteries for standby power, and it matches specific ranges to specific applications.
Gel Batteries
Exide’s Sonnenschein A400 is a VRLA battery that uses dryfit gel technology, where the electrolyte is fixed in a gel. It covers nominal capacities from 5.5 to 180Ah (C10), is maintenance-free (no topping up) and proof against deep discharge, and has a design life of 15 years for blocks of 20Ah and above. For higher capacities, the Sonnenschein A600 covers 100 to 3286Ah (C10), with a design life of 15 years for 6V and 12V blocks and 20 years for 2V cells, and very low gassing due to internal gas recombination. Both ranges carry UL, DNV GL and DIN-GOST TÜV approvals.
AGM Batteries
Exide lists its Marathon L/XL series for telecommunications and electric utility applications, providing high performance in medium and long duration discharge applications. The electrolyte is fixed in an absorbent glass mat (AGM), the batteries are maintenance-free for the entire service life, and the range covers 23.5 to 600Ah with a design life of more than 12 years. For high rate emergency battery backup, Exide lists its Sprinter P/XP series, which is optimised for short discharge time. Exide introduced the Sprinter XP12V4400 for data centres moving to higher-power UPS systems that require larger blocs.
Flooded Batteries
Exide’s Classic OPzS range uses tubular plates and covers nominal capacities from 50 to 3350Ah (C10), with up to 12,000Ah available on request. It has a 20 year design life at 20 °C, and Exide states it offers more capacity than standard DIN OPzS due to its optimised plate design. Its optimised alloy and large electrolyte reserve keep maintenance low, and the transparent or translucent containers allow the electrolyte to be checked visually.
Large Capacity VRLA
Exide’s Absolyte GX covers system capacities from 2000 to 6000Ah, with a 20 year design life in float applications at 25 °C. Exide lists it for telecommunications and utility switchgear and control, and states that Absolyte debuted in 1983 as the first large capacity VRLA battery in the industry.
Exide Technologies was founded in 1888 as The Electric Storage Battery Company, and its Sonnenschein A400 and A600 batteries are manufactured in Europe in ISO 9001 certified production plants.
