GS YUASA Battery & Charger Solutions

GS Yuasa is a Japanese manufacturer of automotive and industrial batteries, providing power solutions for motive power, reserve power and energy storage applications. The company’s history goes back to 1895, when Genzo Shimadzu manufactured Japan’s first lead-acid storage battery. The “GS” name comes from the initials of Genzo Shimadzu Jr., who founded Japan Storage Battery in 1917. In 1918, Shichizaemon Yuasa founded Yuasa Storage Battery in Osaka. In 2004, Japan Storage Battery and Yuasa Corporation merged to form GS Yuasa Corporation, headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and a component of the Nikkei 225 index.

GS Yuasa’s corporate vision is expressed in the words “Innovation and Growth.” Beyond automotive and industrial batteries, GS Yuasa also produces uninterruptible power supply systems and high-performance batteries used in deep-sea research and space development. In Malaysia, the group is represented by GS Yuasa Battery Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., which covers automotive, motorcycle and industrial batteries.

GS Yuasa’s motive power range includes 2 Volt traction batteries for forklifts and material handling, DCB Pro-Spec multipurpose deep cycle batteries, industrial battery chargers, and industrial testing and monitoring equipment.

Its industrial range also includes VRLA batteries for UPS, telecoms, fire and security and emergency lighting, as well as LIM lithium-ion batteries and SLR series batteries for renewable energy and energy storage.

At EnergyHub, we supply GS Yuasa industrial batteries and chargers designed to support dependable performance, efficient charging and consistent power for daily operations.

Our GS Yuasa solutions are suitable for a range of applications, including forklifts, pallet trucks, electric industrial vehicles and standby power systems.

GS Yuasa offers traction batteries and monitoring equipment for motive power, and reserve power batteries for standby and energy storage applications, which matches what EnergyHub supplies for both motive and standby power. EnergyHub has branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang and Singapore, and also provides chargers, battery water and battery services.

Why GS Yuasa?

GS Yuasa provides traction batteries for electric material handling equipment and valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries for standby power, and GS Yuasa states that its traction batteries are the preferred choice in the Asian materials handling market. At EnergyHub, we supply GS Yuasa batteries for motive power and standby power.

Traction Batteries for Motive Power

GS Yuasa’s traction battery catalogue states that the company has been dealing in forklift batteries since 1954, and that its traction batteries use original glass fibre tubes designed by GS Yuasa for long service life, stable quality and easy maintenance. GS Yuasa describes its V Series as its best seller, and makes traction batteries in both JIS and DIN types. Cell capacities are rated at the 5 hour rate, with listed cells including the VSA5 (180Ah) and VSD6 (335Ah). Each vent cap has an orange float that shows when the electrolyte level is low. Besides forklifts, GS Yuasa lists its traction batteries for AGV systems, electric sweepers, explosion-proof equipment, battery locomotives and golf carts.

VRLA Batteries for Standby Power

The Yuasa UXL series is a range of maintenance-free VRLA stationary batteries that has been in use since 1984. UXL datasheets list a 15 year design life for float applications, and state that the batteries contain no free acid, so they can be mounted vertically or horizontally and do not require an equalising charge. The Yuasa NP series is a sealed VRLA battery that can be operated in any orientation except inverted, with a 5 year design life and a wide operating temperature range of -15°C to +50°C.

EnergyHub has branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang and Singapore. We supply GS Yuasa batteries for both motive and standby power, together with battery water and battery services, so you can get your batteries and servicing from one supplier in Malaysia.
