HOPPECKE Battery Solutions

HOPPECKE is a German manufacturer of industrial battery systems, headquartered in Brilon-Hoppecke, Germany. The company was founded in 1927 by Carl Zoellner and has been run as a family business since its foundation. HOPPECKE describes itself as the largest family-run manufacturer of industrial batteries in Europe.

Over the years, HOPPECKE has built its business around energy storage. In 1976, it built a smelter for lead recycling in Brilon, and in 2019 it brought its lithium expertise together in a dedicated company, INTILION GmbH. For standby power, HOPPECKE groups its stationary batteries under the grid | power line, which includes OPzS and OPzV batteries made in line with DIN standards.

HOPPECKE’s grid | power V L (OPzS) is a vented lead-acid battery, while its grid | power VR L (OPzV) uses a gel technology that removes the need to refill with water altogether. The OPzV batteries can also be installed horizontally to make the best use of available space. The grid | power line also covers AGM batteries (grid | power VR M) and other vented lead-acid series for different performance requirements. HOPPECKE lists its grid | power OPzS and OPzV batteries for energy supply systems, security lighting and telecoms, as well as for securing power supply when the grid fails and for emergency power.

At EnergyHub, we distribute HOPPECKE standby batteries to support reliable back-up power requirements across various industries. EnergyHub is an industrial battery supplier with branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang and Singapore, and we supply batteries for both motive and standby power.

Our HOPPECKE solutions are suitable for a range of standby applications, including telecommunications, energy supply systems, security lighting, emergency power and other critical back-up power requirements.

HOPPECKE’s standby range covers the back-up power applications we support for our customers: telecommunications, energy supply systems and emergency power. We distribute it for standby power requirements, and we back it with EnergyHub’s battery water and battery services across our four branches.

Why Hoppecke?

HOPPECKE provides vented lead-acid, gel, AGM and nickel-cadmium batteries for standby power under its grid | power line, and it lists each series for specific applications. In 2018, HOPPECKE moved its stationary batteries to a uniform naming system, so several series below are also known by their previous names.

Vented Lead-Acid Batteries for Standby Power

HOPPECKE’s grid | power V L (previously OPzS and power.bloc OPzS) covers single cells from the grid | power V L 2-215 (213Ah, C10) up to the grid | power V L 2-3500 (3488Ah, C10), with a design life of up to 20 years. HOPPECKE lists it for mobile phone stations, BTS stations and off-grid/on-grid solutions. The grid | power line also includes the grid | power V M (previously OSP.HB/OSP.HC), grid | power V H (previously OSP.XC) and grid | power V X (previously GroE) vented lead-acid series.

Gel Batteries for Standby Power

HOPPECKE’s grid | power VR L (previously OPzV and power.bloc OPzV) is its valve regulated gel battery series, available as both OPzV single cells and power.bloc OPzV monoblocs.

AGM Batteries for Standby Power

HOPPECKE’s grid | power VR M (previously power.com SB) uses ESS technology with electrodes of increased thickness for longer design life and a high energy content. It is listed for UPS and telecommunications (mobile phone stations and BTS stations), has a design life of up to 15 years, and is available in 2V, 6V and 12V versions, including single cells for larger capacities. The grid | power VR X builds on the AGM ESS technology HOPPECKE introduced in 2011, with the aim of increasing energy and power density. Its VRX-HR and VRX-HR FT versions are listed for UPS and telecommunications, with a design life of 12 years, and the FT version’s dimensions correlate with 19″ and 23″ standards. HOPPECKE also offers grid | Xtreme VR, which it describes as the next generation of pure lead AGM batteries (99.99% purity).

Nickel-Cadmium Batteries for Standby Power

HOPPECKE’s grid | power line includes the grid | power FNC vented nickel-cadmium battery and the grid | power FNC-VR valve regulated nickel-cadmium battery. HOPPECKE’s US portfolio lists these for engine start, switchgear and substation applications in data centres.

EnergyHub has branches in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang and Singapore. We distribute HOPPECKE standby batteries, and we supply batteries for both motive and standby power together with battery water and battery services, so you can get your batteries and servicing from one supplier in Malaysia.
